2 Weeks

Two weeks from today is my birthday.

I am not a huge birthday fan.  Something always seems to go wrong.

Plus, I never know what I want.  I know what I need...a new car...(or at least one a little more quiet and much less shaky would be nice...) Bigger ticket items for the apartment... things I could never ask for and certainly don't expect.

If I do come up with a want, it's always some incredibly expensive tech toy... I suppose my taste comes from my dad.  :)

But this year draws me ever closer to the dreaded 3-0, and I'm really not looking forward to this birthday.  I really hate being in the spotlight anyway.

So, I thought I might steal a page from a friend's book.  Instead of celebrating me, or buying me gifts, what I'd really like would be for everyone to perform an act of service.  It can be small and simple and even anonymous if you prefer.  You don't even have to tell me about it, but I do welcome comments to this post if you'd like to share your experiences.

Now, my friend usually celebrates his birthday by having everyone perform an act of service and then that night those who can, get together for ice-cream or eat some on their own.  Ice-cream can often make me sick (though I love it!!) so I usually prefer custard or yogurt.  I can't really schedule an ice-cream or dessert social into my calendar anyway, so after your act of service, please feel free to treat yourself to the dessert of your choice and have a bite for me.

I think this is a very sweet idea. Sounds like something my mother would have done. Sometimes on her birthday she would send us letters asking us to donate to some charity instead...like the Ronald McDonald house one year.

Sounds great. Now that your birthday is almost here, are you reconsidering though?
Any other good news yet?
And as far as the birthday goes, it's just age...another number...you're fab! So, don't stress.
Besides, stressing causes wrinkles.

Does magnifying my calling count as service? I vote yes.

Hope today is wonderful!
