Responsibility

Apparently, I am an adult. I look like an adult, and my driver's license and voter's registration say I am an adult, but I don't really feel like one. I do have a lot of responsibility now, but I still feel like a kid.

I actually have a new responsibility. I am kind of excited, and nervous all at the same time. I received a calling at church. In my church, we all pitch in to run the organization. None of us are paid for the work; it is a form of service for us. Our callings can change from time to time. This time I have been called to Primary. This means I will be teaching Sunday school to five 8-9 year old girls. (I actually have seven girls, but I am told that two of them rarely come.) I am looking forward to it, but I don't start with that class until 2008. For the next three weeks I'll be substituting for the 5 year olds.

I am excited to start working with my girls. I'll have to spend some time getting to know them so I will know how to structure my lessons. I've been told they are all good girls, but are starting to "realize things" like playing with each other's hair, and chatting during Sharing Time. I doubt it will be a serious issue. I am sure that if I can connect with the girls and give them a chance to be themselves in class, they'll behave. I know a couple of the girls, but the rest of them are new to me. (I feel so old... The last time I saw these girls, they were still in diapers!!)

**Update on Primary: They decided to keep me with the five year olds. My class moved on to a new teacher at the New Year, and I have a new group of kids who are four turning five. They are adorable and quite a handful, but very smart.
